Seeking Harry/Draco fans

So I'm involved in helping to set up a new Drarry community over on Wattpad. Fanfiction is a big part of Wattpad, with Harry Potter being one of the larger fandoms and we'd like to set up a place for users to come and find the really good Harry/Draco stories. As we all know, one of the big problems on fic sites, be they original or fanfiction, is often signal to noise ratio.

We'd really like some reccers and some fans willing to review fics submitted to the community to see if they meet quality standards, such as spelling and punctuation and, y'know, other simple things like being a proper story and not click bait.

We're still in the discussion stage of how to actually set up the community, but it will most likely be run using a Google email, Google hangouts and Google sheets etc so we all know what we are up to. Hence a gmail is a must, but they're free and easy to set up if you don't already have one.

Wattpad doesn't have useful things like moderators for a community so, I think, the idea is to have just a couple of people who can log in and deal with updates and many who can deal with finding stories, checking them out, adding them to the to add pile etc. Also we're considering a beta reader section and cover art and meta.

We'd also love to entice some Harry/Draco writers over to post their fics on Wattpad as well as AO3 and LJ etc. As far as I can tell many, many people on Wattpad have never heard of AO3 or LJ so it's a whole new audience :). We're hoping that setting up an active community will help all the Drarry fans connect just like the comms on LJ do here.

Femmequixotic and I are interested -- she'd been talking about putting up some of her longer stuff on WP. I have an account I have to dust off, but this sounds really interesting.

Awesome :) Are you interested in just subbing your own fiction to the comm for inclusion in the reading lists or would you like to be involved in fic reccing etc as well?

We're still in the setup stage at the moment - we haven't even picked a name :), but we're getting there.

Die-hard HP fan here but vaguely anti-WP. As an AO3 staffer I've become all too aware of the amount of plagiarism that so often starts on WP. Not joining you, and this is just a friendly warning to beware and put lots of ring fencing in place - their modding is pretty non-existent even apart from comms. Wishing you the best of luck and will be interested to hear how it goes! Maybe I'm being over pessimistic?!

That's one of the reasons we want a proper community so we can highlight to good stuff and point people at it rather than any of the lowlifes. It's so hard to find things on Wattpad.

One of the lasses involved is a Wattpad Ambassador, so she if very much anti all the underhand stuff and it will be in our principles to make sure nothing comes near the comm that has been stolen - we might even be able to help root it out too.

Wattpad doesn't really have communities like LJ so it won't be people just posting to it willy nilly, it will be our admin team adding books etc to reading lists for our followers to check out etc. Which means there is one ring fence already in place. Every story added will be vetted by the team.

That sounds good. I might even join in with my HP/Lewis crossover if and when I get it properly hung together - at the moment it's in separate stories on AO3 and I can't repost it there as a single book.
