"Aren't you supposed to be at the club?" she asked.
"Aren't you supposed to be at the cemetery?" Nathaniel countered after a worried pause.
Anita rolled her eyes.
"Why are you sneaking around, Nathaniel?" she asked, knowing that he was just about incapable of lying to a direct question.
Nathaniel looked stricken.
[Spare him, ma petite, s'il vous plaît] Jean-Claude's voice sounded in her mind, [he has your présent de Noël from me.]
