"Bill, what's the matter?" Tom asked as he walked in to find Bill forlornly sitting on the floor.

"Remember when we used to think Santa Claus was real?"

Tom nodded.

"I miss that. I miss so many things seeming real."

Now Tom understood, Santa was just a stand-in for all the innocence they had lost.

"But it is real," he said, "all you have to do is believe, Bill."

He walked over and sat down next to his twin.

"How do you think we've made it this far? Become all that we've become?" he asked. "It's because you always believed."
