beren_writes: Loki smiling with the words "Sweet and innocent ... honestly" (Avengers - Loki sweet and innocent)
Well I have been struggling to write over the last two days and have resorted to doing other tasks when that failed, but I feel the muse coming back this morning - yay! :) On the bright side I did get some stuff done that needed doing ::g::.

I have also come to the conclusion that I am a total nerd because I was watching Bones last night and it was about comedians. The joke that made me laugh out loud was this one:

Is it just me or is a circle totally pointless.

And not just once, oh no, I laughed every time someone said it.

Then again I do also find this joke funny:

What do you call a fish with no eyes.

Fsh

So there is no accounting for my taste. I love geek jokes and stupid jokes apparently.

Talking of jokes I am also reading a great book, it's called Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. It is hilarious and touching and simply brilliant, especially if you know something about the gospels. I have nearly finished it and will do a full review when I have.

Right, so over on Fantasy Boys XXX (the new blog Soph and I have for some of our erotic fiction) we're having a go at this:

Drabble Cascade!

Drabbles, little pieces of imagination made up of exactly 100 words, are fun. Drabbles are also a challenge that we at FB3X have found really help hone our writerly command of language, focusing us on using words with precision, and we'd love to share the joys of this art form with everyone who'd like to play.

Whether you just enjoy reading drabbles, or you want to join in with writing them, or you'd like to leave us some inspiration, read on and join in the adventure!

Every Tuesday, FB3X will be running a Drabble Cascade, where we take a one-word inspiration from our readers (we'd love it if you would like to contribute one-word inspirations, just comment on our main drabble cascade post at FB3X, thank you). To kick off the cascade, we will post a drabble inspired by the word of the week to the FB3X blog

The Way A Cascade Will Work

To those struck by inspiration (and no you don't have to be a professional writer to join in, anyone can embrace their inner author and we're perfectly happy if you'd like to do fanfic too):

  • FB3X will post the first drabble every Tuesday
  • Under our drabble you will find a chance to join in the cascade in the form of a linked list
    • Post a drabble to your own blog, or website
    • Then insert a link into the linked list to that drabble for everyone to find (A hint of the genre of your drabble in the title of your post would be appreciated.)
    • There will also be a copy of the linked list code for you to put at the bottom of your own drabble post to encourage others to join in and hence cascade the fun :).
For folks who enjoy reading drabbles: you can then peruse the cascade to your heart's content :).

So What Can You Write?
The simple answer is - anything! Our drabbles here on FB3X will be erotically themed. but feel free to take the inspiration any way you want to, since variety is the spice of life!

Our first cascade will be taking place on Tuesday 12th March 2013 and before then, we're looking for inspiration, so please, leave us some one-word seeds for us to choose from :).

I'll be posting drabbles over here as well as over there at FBXXX and who knows what they shall end up being. We very much hope lots of people will join in.
beren_writes: There is always some madness in love, but there is also always some reason in madness. (HP - draco - madness/love)
There is only a question mark next to how many parts this will be because last time I posted without having completely finished a fic I cocked it up. I believe there will be two parts, since I'm halfway through the second now, but if it turns out to be too long there will be three, hence the question mark.

Title: One to the Other 1/?
Author: Beren

Warnings: canon character death
Summary: Jake knows he should be over Tommy's death, but ever since he became Na'vi he can't seem to shake the loss. If that isn't enough to deal with, he is trying to make sure 'the Sky People' don't just turn up and blast the crap out of Pandora from orbit and when a sealed lab is found at Hell's Gate containing two very strange Avatars things just become even more complicated.
Author's Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] heeroluva for help_haiti - yup, that's how long it's taken me to kick my backside into gear and get this finished. There are no excuses I can make, all I can do is apologise and actually post it. Dear [livejournal.com profile] heeroluva I really hope you like it. Thanks to Sophie for the beta.
