I'm very glad I'm not in a rush with anything this week!

So yesterday I see there are updates to windows, so I click on them and let them install. I start to worry a little when this takes nearly an hour, but at least I can use the PC while this is going on.

What it failed to mention was that it would take 4 hours to complete once the install had been done. It hijacked my PC after I restarted and refused to give it back.

Then this morning, it seemed to have finished, but it was another 20mins before it finished logging in. Then there were even more updates and since nothing was working correctly I installed them.

Some how it managed to set half my windows to appear off my screens - you'd think with 3 it could at least pick one of them!

Not only that, but it crashed Chrome somehow once I did get back in and caused it to lose all my extensions, including OneTab. So I then spent another couple of hours going through an on disk cache type file in AppData which had most of the URLs in it in plain text, plucking them out so I could find them again. *head desk*

I have not had a good day!

However, all is well now, thank heavens. I'm just trying to think what to do for Fan Friday tomorrow on my Tasha's Thinking's Blog - I can't decide between Highlander or Dune :).

do you know if win 10 made a backup copy of 8 or 7? i noticed in mine it had made a copy of win 8 just in case I needed to turn back my system.

I've had Win 10 for months so I suspect there is a restore point, but very old, that part went fine, this was a new update for 10. No idea why, but it sat there with those annoying messages for 20mins again after having spent hours doing mysterious things with a big circle on the screen telling me how far through it was.

Luckily I managed to get all my windows back by resetting the screen drivers and I have re-added all the Chrome extensions I needed. Took until 1pm to fix it all when I first sat down at my PC at 7am, but it's all working again.

Dune it is then :) I can also bring in Children of Dune and then have semi-naked pictures of James McAvoy, so it'll be such a hardship for me ;)

Oh yes, I hate how long the updates take these days. Like when I upgraded from Win8 to Win10, it told me 50 mins. or so... yeah, for the download. Then it spent the whole evening installing the thing. Jesus. Also, almost every time there's a Win update, my computer restart itself, without permission, even though I don't have it set like that! Grr...

My machine takes between 5 and 10mins to reboot even when there isn't an update since Win10 was installed. It's not the restart, it's waiting for everything once I log in - it takes forever to come back. It's very aggravating.
